10 Productivity Tips for Working from Home

10 Productivity Tips for Working from Home

July 17, 2021

Numerous studies have shown that those who work remotely have found a significant boost to their productivity, mostly due to time saved from no longer commuting and or attending in-person meetings. However, others still struggle with their work-from-home arrangement.

If you at times find yourself in the latter group, read on as we cover 10 tips for productivity when working from home.

1. KEEP YOUR MORNING ROUTINE

Wake up at the same time, get dressed, brush your teeth, and do all your usual morning habits just as you would when going to a traditional office. We are creatures of habit, so it is imperative to maintain a daily routine to create a sense of structure and normalcy.

2. KEEP A DEDICATED OFFICE SPACE

Set up a room that is exclusively dedicated to work activity, free from distractions and temptations. If you are sharing space with the rest of your family, just make sure to have a separate, designated portion of the room that is conducive for work.

3. SET GOALS

Having goals is important to staying productive - so make sure you set some for yourself!

4. MAINTAIN WORKING HOURS

Schedule specific work hours and (more importantly) commit to them.

5. SET GUIDELINES WITH YOUR FAMILY

Place boundaries between work life and home life by laying out some guidelines with your family members to limit unnecessary disruptions during work hours.

6. TAKE BREAKS

Taking breaks can help you refocus mentally, minimize stress, avoid burnout, and boost motivation.

7. HAVE SOME PERSONAL TIME

Make sure to log off, close your email, and block off time in your schedule to step away from any work related notifications and focus on your personal life.

8. STAY ORGANIZED

Keep an orderly desk by investing in organizational tools and storage solutions to help keep everything in its rightful place.

9. STAY OFF SOCIAL MEDIA

Social media can be such a time sink and a detriment to productivity. Make sure to exercise self-restraint over your desire to check social media during work time.

10. SEEK LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Join training and professional development classes offered by your company to learn something useful.

We hope you find these tips useful during your remote working. Share your ideas and suggestions down the comments below!
